„Kutavičius - Balakauskas - Martinaitis“ (59:99)

Telos Music 2018
This CD is one of the most important testimonies of the orchestra's musical activity: the intersection of the classical past and modernity is most beautifully conveyed by the music of the Lithuanian contemporary composers."

The Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra plays music by three characteristic and truly imaginative Lithuanian composers. Adrija Cepaite gives the music all her care and attention, and her account is first rate. The recorded sound is excellent.

It is a small nation’s symbolic encounter with the majestic European baroque, a certain revenge – if not in Bach’s epoch then at least now. Quite a few composers are ready for this revenge, but Martinaitis’ Musikalisches Opfer is a sign, which allows us to face the modern Europe with dignity without sacrificing our nature.”

The Orchestra has been active for a half of century

In his book Great Violinists of Our Time Joachim W. Hartnack maintains: “Musici di Roma, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra and V. Spivakov’s Moscow Virtuosos are among the world’s unreservedly best virtuosos”. The author wrote about the LCO’s “limitless virtuosity and musicality”.

(Hartnack J.W. “Grosse Geiger unserer Zeit. Zurich”: Atlantis-Musikbuch-Verlag, 1993, p. 337.)
